Founded in 2019, kudala set out to become a hardware-agnostic IIoT platform. Our journey began with Microsoft Azure IoT Accelerators, diving deep into custom C# coding. However, we soon realized that building and scaling custom solutions was a heavy lift, especially for a small team without an enterprise-level budget.

Enter Open-Source Software

Leveraging open-source big data applications allowed us to handle vastly more data than we could with self-written code. This transition opened doors to powerful data ingestion and processing capabilities that previously seemed out of reach.

Our journey then became one of refinement and exploration into the intricacies of deploying each open-source app. Without the luxury of extensive test environments, we learned by doing—often making changes in production deployments. Thankfully, these robust, micro-services based tools enabled us to pause and restart pipelines at multiple points, ensuring data integrity even during live adjustments.
